This occurred nearly two years ago. I was travelling at night with two commrades through an area with a few farms and shops, all surrounded by dense woodlands and a dirt path leading the way to the town I was headed to and another road headed from whence I came. Bolting out of one of the houses were 5 cloaked men, 2 of them carrying children, a boy and a girl. I saw a tired, old man trying to give chase to these men. It appeared that these cloaked men had kidnapped his children! My party would not let such a terrible thing happen. We chased them into the woods.
These cloaked men were very fast, but we managed to follow them until we saw a horrific but amazing sight. There was an altar in the middle of these woods. Behind it, a swirling, eerie light glowing with a silver hue. The men uncloaked themselves, only to reveal daemon-like forms. They saw us and tried to escape into the portal with the children, but one of the two members of my party swiftly came arund and flanked the beasts, cutting off their exit. The daemons put up a massive fight. They used all types of dark spells, but I suppose fate and the gods were on our side. With silver-tipped arrows, my other commrade and I unleashed on the daemons. They were down, but not out. The other member of our party, Caidok, crushed the skulls of the stunned beasts and ended the fight. We realised that this portal could not be allowed to stand or more beasts would come from it. We sent the children to the town to bring the adults with any blunt objects thy could get their hands on.
In an hour's time, the entire portal was destroyed, crushed to stone. the old man happened to be the town blacksmith. He examined the stone that the portal was made out of and found that it contained an unusual metallic substance. He told us that if we give him a month's time, he would be able to extract metals from the rocks to make weapons of strength and durability never seen before in the realm. Time did pass quick and we went to the blacksmith. He presented us with a new warhammer, an axe, and a sword. Since Caidok was the master of blunt weapons, he took the warhammer. The other one, Kaden, asked if he could have the axe.I had no problem with taking the sword, as I had been more comfortable with a sword than an axe anyway.
Months went by, and our party disbanded for a while to recoup and just enjoy townlife. One day, a strange, cloaked figure appeared. It told me not to be afraid, and to not be afraid of what I saw. With that, the figure took down its hood, and before me, I saw the face of a beautiful female Seraphim. She explained that the metal created by the blacksmith had the power to link the underworld to this realm.
