Title: The Dreamworld
Area: Places

Bio Info:

The Dreamworld connects all other worlds, and all beings of all worlds glimpse the Dreamworld whenever they sleep and dream. No one actually enters the Dreamworld except a select few. Only once in a thousand years or so has a being from another world entered the Dreamworld. It is ruled by a Guardian, who must have a wide imagination, a good heart, a devotion to duty, a sense of wonder, and a selfless desire to help the Dreamworld and its inhabitants. The Dreamworld's Guardian must also be a being from another world outside the Dreamworld. The Guardian's duties include guarding the Dreamworld and its residents and keeping the nightmares from growing too strong. Nightmares are necessary, but they cannot be left to their own devices, or the safety of the Dreamworld would be in jeopardy. The Guardian lives a rather lonely life; he or she must make many great personal sacrifices for the good of the Dreamworld. The Guardian lives in the Heart of the Dreamworld, where the Guardian's magic, dreamfire, is strongest, and where he or she is safest when in trouble.

Some years ago, the Dreamworld's Guardian was seriously ill, and the Dreamworld grew unstable. (The Guardian's life force is bonded to the Dreamworld itself, and so what happens to one, happens to the other.) This Guardian, a huge, snow-white tiger, was named Astera Illumina. Knowing that she could not remain the Dreamworld's Guardian much longer because of her illness, she began a search for someone to be the Dreamworld's new Guardian.

The search finally settled upon Ariana Aislinn, Jessie Carlisle, and Robert Marinel, three friends who lived on a world called Earth. It was then 1996 A.D. by their time. The three were 16 years old and attended the same high school. Once chosen, they began to have strange dreams every night, filled with visions of the Dreamworld and premonitions of its possible fates as well as their own. Perplexed and troubled, the friends finally decided to meet at night in a field, hoping to stargaze a bit and talk about the dreams. When the three met, however, blue-green lightning flashed and transported them to the Dreamworld.

After many adventures, they finally traveled through the Dreamworld to its very center, where they met Astera. She told them of the need for a new Guardian, and after careful consideration, Ariana volunteered. Becoming the Guardian of the Dreamworld was not quite what she expected, however. As she was bonded to the Dreamworld, Robert and Jessie vanished and returned to Earth, now the only ones to remember that Ariana had ever existed. Ariana had become a new person, in a sense...still with her own identity and personality, but now with new powers, a new home, and a new name—Ariana Dreamstar.

The life of the Guardian is a lonely one, and two years later, Ariana was so desperate for human companionship that she used her magic to try to return home. Somehow she ended up in the world of RavensDale instead. She soon made many friends there and began to visit regularly. At the same time, the nightmares in the Dreamworld were growing stronger. A bit less than year later, Ariana was to discover the reason. A Lord of Nightmares had arisen, and he was plotting to take over the Dreamworld and make it a world of nightmares; he also had an army poised to attack RavensDale.

Ariana and her friends were to find themselves in a battle for the fate of at least two worlds...launching the storyline we call the Dreamworld Saga.
